Neumagen-Dhron

Neumagen-Dhron is consideres to be the oldest winegrowing village in Germany. This refers to the discovery of the “Wine Shop of Neumagen”. Whether this is true or not, it is undisputed that wine-growing is executed here for nearly 2 millenials. And for a good reason.

At the bottom of the steep south-west oriented “Dhroner Hofberg” the subsidiary river Dhron flows into the Mosel. Here on a sparse, craggy slope with very little fine soil the midday sun blazes heavily. The raw, grey slate shows clear iron oxid interstratifications.

Wines from Dhron are fine and elegant with pure Minerality. Sweet wines of excellent quality can be harvested here frequently.
